Websites are considered the best step to start with in order to strengthen your online presence in the long term. They can boost your business and sustain your relationship with your customers if you implement the right strategies, provide an appealing design and a great user experience within your website pages. There are different types of websites, based on your business goals and vision you can choose what type is the most suitable for you.

1- Types of websites

  • E-commerce websites

E-commerce websites are the most common type, they are getting to be more and more used because of the variety of advantages they can give to your business.

Definition of an E-commerce website: It’s an online portal that facilitates online transactions of goods and services through means of the transfer of information and funds over the Internet. The good thing about e-commerce websites is that they provide 24 hours a day, seven days a week service with a wide array of products, which make customers have the choice to choose wherever they want and make them also more informed about what they want.

For example, Game Store Dz is a local e-commerce website where they provide various gaming products online besides their local store.

Tools to build an E-commerce website: There are a lot of tools to make your E-commerce website, the most common ones are:

Shopify: Shopify is very intuitive, offers excellent customization options and doesn’t require any coding skills on your part, making it the best website builder for your online store. It provides great themes (Store designs), and they are all mobile optimized.

WordPress with Woocommerce: WordPress is a website engine – a piece of web software that allows you to build and run a website in a user-friendly way. WooCommerce is a plugin that you install on WordPress to turn it into a fully-fledged e-commerce store. WooCommerce gives out an excellent e-commerce theme called Storefront, along with thousands of other themes since it’s open-source.

  • Service provider Websites

Definition: This is another type of websites exclusive only for services where you can find a wide array of services. The most common one is a freelancing website where there are a lot of people selling their services like graphic designers, digital marketers, data scientists, IT specialists, web developers, and many other kinds of services.

For example, Freehali in an Algerian freelancing website gathers all the Algerian freelancers who are selling their services.

  • Magazine websites

Magazine websites: is another type where businesses set their product in an interesting and informing way to make customers more aware of their products. On a magazine website, you can find images of products combined with all the attributes and features, it’s designed to be experienced exactly like a physical magazine.

Robuste.dz is an Algerian magazine website where you find all the products they offer. The good thing is it is easy to navigate and find exactly what you want with researching and filtering options.

  • Web apps

The one that is hard to start with is a web app, it’s like a mobile app, and so it is interactive by giving it the income it is going to provide you with the outcome depending on the data that it has and the algorithm that is going to provide you with this data.

Those web apps could be transformed into mobile apps later, and they are the full experience. So you are designing them from the beginning, and you can’t find templates for that.

Our example here is a web app called: resp.TV

This web app Is providing you with a chatbot; a bot that talks to you with messages.

This bot allows you to search and navigate movies and TV shows and help you get to the best one for you based on your mood and Preferences by finding information relevant to the show for you to get an excellent proposition or a perfect choice.

It also provides you with links and tips to watch in streaming, So it is a full experience.

  •  Blogs

There is the other type, which is a blog. A blog is the easiest one for starters.

Anyone who doesn’t have any skills or minimal skills on programming or computer science can start with a blog because a blog is on a template on WordPress generally. Here are other platforms that provide blogs, but WordPress is the most common, and it is for free. So it is the best one to start with. And between 60% and 70% of the websites are powered on WordPress. And so the platform itself is optimized for search engines, and it is common between bloggers.

Blog with tools

Some blogs include tools. And here I brought you an example, which is my nkhayer.Dz it is an Algerian website that provides you with a tool to compare cars, banks, technological like PCs and smartphones in Algeria, and many other things.

So it is an excellent website that has a variety of uses because of its tool. And the tool is a little bit difficult to program and get the data to it, but I guess it can work with ease when you start to grow.

Normal blogs

Then there is the other type, which is a blog that provides articles and content. I brought you an example of media news that is an Algerian website, Dairdaily.com Which provides news through articles and all that helps the audience know about the actual news in Algeria here. For example, when you start, you can start with this type of blogs because it is simple. It just has a template, and this template can be customized as you want. And you can start writing content and articles, blog posts for them to rank on Google search.

The more it is optimized, and there are some factors for that. The more it’s going to rank on Google, and that is going to bring you traffic.

2- Steps and strategies to build your website:

  • Method P.L.A.N

Method P.L.A.N: is the process or set of steps you have to consider to know what your website needs.

Let’s understand what each letter refers to:

P; Prepare

it’s the step of finding the right target audience and setting your goals.

Finding the right target audience

you have to think about the most likely buyers who want to buy your products and how you should speak to them, you have to find what language you have to talk with them. Then, understand them by making an in-depth study to understand their behaviour. Finally, defining the product that you’re going to offer to them.

Setting your goals

Now it’s time to set your Goals, For your business or your websites, or maybe for the content. Either way, the goals should be defined, defined to have a clear path to follow and keep perfecting it throughout time to make the best of it.

And so here, I’m going to give you a strategy to set clear goals for your business or yourself in your life or your business life. So these goals should be SMART. What do I mean by smart? Each letter in smart stands for something.

The S; Specific

Beginning with the S which is specific: specific goals are goals that let’s say I’m going to reach women in their fifties. I am specific here.

The M; Measurable
Let your goals be measurable: This is the M the measurability means how many of those women am I going to reach? I am going to reach 10,000 women. So it is measurable.
The A: Attainable

Is ten thousand attainable? Can I attain this goal? This stands for the A. Yes. 10,000 sounds a good goal to start with this goal is attainable.

The R: Relevant

Is it relevant? The relevancy of this goal to my business? Yes. If I’m doing a brand that is concentrated on those types of women, yes, it is relevant.

The T: time-based

Now the T is time-based. When am I going to reach those types of audiences? I am going to reach them a year from now. Okay. It is time-based. And so my goal here is SMART.

Make your customers aware of your goals.

Put together all the needed information within your website to create well-informed customers ready to buy your products and services and help search engines recognize and trust your website.

L; Landscape

t’s about identifying the feature and the attributes you want to put within your website or the way it should function.

Based on the goals you defined, and what type of website you will create, you can choose accurately the most appropriate features for your website, For example:

  • For an e-commerce website, you have to add a credit card, processing, or shopping cart features.
  • For a photography website, you can add images and videos to better visualize your business.
  • If you are creating your website to promote your local business, you have to add your location.

A; Aesthetics

It’s the way your website looks, and it’s a crucial piece of the website creation process to ensure an ideal interface to your website. In order to provide an appealing interface, there are some steps to follow:

  • Your template must match your business; you can’t, for example, use a crazy colour template when you are creating a B2B website.
  • Make your site easy to read. Generally, white font on a black background is harder to read than black on white.
  • Visual content, like images and videos, can capture the attention of your traffic and make it more connected or desired to navigate more in your website.
  • Employ responsive design; your web page must be translated into a viewable format on mobile devices.

N; Navigation

It’s about planning how you want your audience directed through your website and optimize the experience within it.

Let us discover the action plans to provide a great user experience within your website:

  • The best way to shape your website or structure it is by using a piece of paper to map it out and start with your homepage.
  • Ease the navigation within your website by adding a category list and filtering option.
  • Make sure to add a call to action buttons.
  • Add a blog page, About, and contact us pages.

When you have completed your plan, you are ready to move on to the building phase that starts with buying a domain name and web hosting and then choose the theme to feed your tone and provide all the features you want to include.

  • Market analysis

After you’ve done your plan and started creating your first website, it is time to start doing the market analysis.

What is the market analysis?

It includes three steps, easy steps to follow.

The first one is the info about your industry because you have to gather information about the industry you will be facing. After all, there is competition, and there are obstacles, difficulties. So you need to know all of that.

Different types of sites have different types of competition or industry obstacles. Let’s take an example of the blog and see, where can you search for your competition? And all the info. The blog is the most competitive space out there because it’s the easiest; there are over a billion blogs. So you are competing with many people, each market, or each niche has its competition.

  •  Go beyond your competition.

There are some niches that don’t have that much of a competition, but there are some niches that have a lot. Either way, After you find this competition, go beyond it. For example, when you start searching on Google, you’ll find answers to all of your questions.

Let’s go beyond that and go directly to the source because you create content for your customer or audiences. And when you know those audiences, you’re going to go and ask them, for example, go to social media and communities around the web, like in forums, Reddit, and all those platforms and see the questions that are being asked and not responded to, or maybe ask your questions directly.

For example, ask questions about the industry you want to work in and see if it gets people interested and likely to follow you to get that information because they see it as valuable.

Make sure it isn’t abundantly available, and so they didn’t get it from anywhere else and how you can serve them the best. The more you can provide that your competition doesn’t have, the better, for example, you provide something that just fewer people are providing. You are making this content specifically for a particular type of people here. You’re going to stand out, and you’re going to be ahead from your competition.

You have to see the obstacles that those people face because sometimes obstacles that your competition is facing. Sometimes they couldn’t provide this type of information because there is an obstacle. And so you have to be clear on the path you’re going to follow to achieve your goals.

  • Measure the success rate

The other thing I want to talk about is the success rate of your competition in the industry. Now you’re focusing on your competition. Are they achieving their goals?

See the bigger websites in your industry and see how they are implementing the things you are thinking of. Because in our world, as I said, over a billion blogs and even more than a billion websites. With every idea that you have in your mind, some people have already implemented it. And they like working on it’s full day for years. See what are the goals that they achieved and how they are working now? What, in what level are they working here?

You can go to Google and search. When you search about the websites, you’re going to have the first page, which is the most relevant content, and the most authoritative domains. And so these authoritative domains, they’ve been there for years, see those domains.

You can also find some domains that are not as old or as authoritative, but they are there for a reason because Google is searching for relevancy and many other factors that you’re going to be learning on SEO.

And those domains that you judge as old, they’ve been there for so long, and they achieved some level of performance, or they reached their goals. See, what are the goals they reached? If those goals speak to you and you wish to achieve them?

  • Define the right platform

Now let’s go and define what the right platform to start with is? Here You can ask yourself this simple question, which is “where are they?” Where are my ideal customers? Because it has no sense if, for example, your target audience is somewhere, and you are trying to find them somewhere else, or you’re creating content in another form. Let me explain. Nowadays, many platforms are called social media, and those platforms have different types of audiences. Now that you know your target audience it’s demographic, and all the things related to them go to those platforms and see if they are there. For example, you go to Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, Quora, YouTube all those platforms, and see, are they there in the first place?

Or maybe are they interacting there and how they are interacting? For example, if your audience is a little bit old, there is no point in searching for them. In Snapchat, you can’t find them there. Maybe you’ll find one or two, but the majority of older people are not in Snapchat.

So, but there are more specific platforms and can give you a lot of those audiences because they focus on those audiences, and they are serving the same way as you do. So they are helping them, and you should be trying to be available on those platforms because you’re going to stand out and reach more.

  • How do you standout

The fourth point that I want to talk about is how you stand out. Now that you know your target audience, you know, your competition, and you know, what did they do? And what are the goals that they achieved? Now let’s set your goals and let’s set the path you’re going to follow to stand out from this competition and propose more, maybe serve better because each of us has its own way of serving people, serving their audiences. And this standing out is what is going to define you.

Let’s say you are just copying someone else, and you are saying the same thing that they say, maybe you are trying to limit their voice or message. How are you going to stand out? And why are people going to follow you and not go to the source? And so you get to put this in mind and start standing out and creating original content that speaks about the message that you want to send out.

  • Monetization

This traffic could be monetized, For example, you could put ads on your websites, and you’re going to gain some money from ads. You can also propose affiliate products, and you can earn some money from affiliates and many other advanced ways to gain money.

These monetization techniques will be discussed in another post, but this is the general overview of the websites that could be created. And we hope This will help you achieve your purpose or the things you are working on.
